my generation

This is a boy of my generation with his baseball glove. We played BB in vacant
lots and in my case, the cow pasture next door. Baseball then wasn't so much
a sport but a game or pass time. Quite often adults would join and play with
us. The figure is looking away from the body of the painting surface. This can
be tricky compositionally. I have also kept much of the painting untouched
(w/o decoration). I like a "sketchbook quality and wanted to retain that. So
much of childhood is like that unpainted surface, there is a lot of promise,
endless possibilities. Even the "drips and splatters" and the circumstances
beyond our control that contribute to the design. These are not mistakes so much
as challenges that force us to see the overall picture and not get bogged
down in the small details.
