Moses and Dean King: World Class Generosity

“Opening the windows of heaven:” One of the great giving passages of Scripture is Malachi 3:8-12. The prophet speaks of tithes, offerings, opening the windows of heaven, amazing blessings and a testimony to the nations. Specifically, generosity expressed in offerings to God’s work, opens the windows of heaven and blessings multiply around the earth.  

We often think of heaven as above the earth in a physical sense. I see heaven as a separate and no less real realm of existence. This spiritual realm is with us, immanent and close wherever we are. “The Kingdom of God is within you”. Si-fi geeks might call this a parallel dimension. When we give generously to God as an act of obedience and worship, a window or “portal” is opened allowing heaven to be manifest on earth.

I want to take this thought a step further. When we practice generosity, we become a window of Heaven. The blessings of God flow to us and through us. They begin to flow like rain to irrigate the earth with the presence of God. Psalm 67 expresses the same idea; “God bless us and make us a blessing so that the earth might know that you are God.”

I painted a box around the Kings. This also broke un the flat background color and tied the painting together compositionally in a more modern, edgy design. I also painted some simple organic lines in the background. These also help pull everything together.

Symbolically the box responds to the “window of heaven”. Moses and Dean King are people through whom heaven flows to bless the nations. Step back and look beyond the portraits. Something like a map, with rivers and roads emerges. The blessing flows out of NC to the entire world through a network of channels and streams we call, “World Missions Ministries”.

World Class Generosity opens the windows of heaven and worships the Lord. Blessing is multiplied and the glory of the Lord fills the earth as the waters cover the sea.
